Words that inspire me?

“What if I fall? Oh, but my darling what if you fly?” – Erin Hanson

Tell us about your fitness journey.

I’ve fluctuated with my weight most of my life. My activity level is very low with my career choice(s) and over the years I’ve discovered I am happier when I’m active, and my body responds well to exercise. I was quite active for a few years and feeling great before I had two surgeries in 2013 which gave me two wonderful excuses to be lazy again. During the spring of 2015 I knew it was time to get back on track, so talked to friend and Farmgirlfit member Kacey about her gym. It took a few weeks of casual conversation before I attended my first free class. I didn’t participate, only watched. I was overwhelmed and intimidated (it was a 5:30 pm class and PACKED) but still showed up the next morning at 7:30 for my first class. The only week I’ve missed since then was a trip to Hawaii.

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

Out of my comfort zone! Everything we do pushes me outside of my comfy little box and forces me to challenge my body and mind. And I couldn’t be more grateful for it!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

I think my greatest accomplishment so far is a 200# deadlift. EDIT: After typing this I hit 105# 1RM in my strict press!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

My current goal is to master one strict push-up by my first FGF anniversary (last week of May 2016). After that, I’d like to just continue to work on lowering my body fat.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

My kids. Not only because I want them to be healthier, but because I want to impress them a little!

Favorite workout song?

Any 80’s or 90’s Hip Hop and R&B. Throw on It’s Tricky and I can bust out a few extra reps, no problem!

Favorite exercise at FGF is:

Presses! Strict, Push, Bench!! I love them all.

Least favorite exercise at FGF is:

Burpees. I don’t know what man thought those up but he should be dealt with. (It has to be a man because no woman would put us through that!)

When the Grind is kicking my butt…

I hear Coach Brandy “Don’t stop moving!” and I hear Coach Jeni D “Quit messing around, Andrea!” basically the little angel and devil on my shoulder.

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The sisterhood. I love that regardless of who we are before we step through the FGF doors, once we are inside we are equals. Every single woman has something she doesn’t like about herself, a weakness she wants to strengthen and a strength she may not know she has. As a Farmgirl we support and empower each other to be our best and that is what makes every day special.

How has the rest of your life been influenced by Farmgirlfit?

Since joining Farmgirlfit, I am a happier person. I feel better about myself and that makes me a better wife, mother, friend and human being.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

I would say I’m usually writing, reading or watching Bravo and Food Network. Sometimes all of those at the same time!

You might not know this about me:

In August 2015 I self-published my first novel, Life Rewritten, which became a top 10 best seller in three Amazon categories (no surprise – humorous, general humor, and romantic comedy)

My happy place is:

Toes in the water with a drink in one hand and a book in the other.

Guilty pleasure:

Beer. I don’t really feel guilty about it. Life’s too short for that!

My favorite post workout meal:

MEAT! There are some days after a workout I want to eat an entire cow!

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

Current members – Remember that each time you choose to walk through those doors you have already accomplished something. New members – every single woman there had a day 1 too. It’s all about patience and appreciating every accomplishment along the way.

Anything else to share?

I am in awe of every woman I meet at Farmgirlfit. Each member and coach inspires me to be a better person. I am grateful every day for being part of such an amazing community.
