Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I’ve always been active, playing sports and working out. I started playing softball at age 5, and played through college. When I finished college, I was burnt out on playing and wanted something new and challenging away from the practice and lifting workouts I’d always done. I found triathlon and soon decided: I got through the swim (actually hated it), LOVED being on the bike, and dealt with the run. I ditched the multisport for riding and fell in love. I met my best friend through cycling and have gone from 1 bike to 4 in the garage. At the strong urging from friends and fellow FGF members Maria and Kelly, I reluctantly attended a Friendship Friday last April. I assumed I would hate it and wouldn’t come back. Well, turns out I was oh so wrong and I AM HOOKED!

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

I went in to my first workout guarded, doubting, and honestly just doing it so they would back off and stop saying I should try it. Well, to my surprise I was completely impressed. Each coach paid attention and corrected not just on my form but on everyone's, just as I would a patient I'm treating. Giving us the best possible outcome from each and every movement.

I am without a doubt hooked on the feeling, and love every second I'm inside those purple walls. I may not have lost weight or pant sizes over the year, but I know I am so much stronger than the year ago me.

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

Getting back to the lifting I used to do in college and seeing old PRs fall.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

Farmgirl-wise I want to pass my old bench PR of 135#; not working on it much during regular workouts means I need to come in to Open Gym more! :) Cycling-wise I’m looking forward to my next cyclocross season and going in to it as strong as ever. Last year I didn’t race much due to a surgery so I’m excited for this season and to see the strength gains I’ve made since being at FGF.

Favorite exercise at FGF is? Least favorite?

Favorites: squat and deadlift. Least favorite: front squats and burpees.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

You came here to kick your a$$ so get to it, push harder!

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

Do I have to pick just one!? The feeling I get every time I am there, the strength gains of myself and the amazing women I get to workout with, AND THE COACHES!

Do you have a funny Farmgirlfit story, or favorite memory?

Bringing Maria with me to an afternoon class and her being as goofy as every during a partner workout. I thought Mary was going to pee her pants she was laughing so hard at us. Well, mostly Maria.

How has the rest of your life been influenced/impacted by Farmgirlfit?

It has forever changed my way of working out. I love the strength gains I’ve made and the feeling I get after a super hard workout.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

I’ve always looked up to and respected my best friend for her natural talent on the bike and her ability to juggle so many things and still be such a gifted athlete. She pushes me without even knowing it. The coaches, my fellow FGF peeps continue to inspire me each day. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people. I want to show my niece what women can do when they set their mind to it so, she is also a huge inspiration.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Riding my bike, hiking with my dog and spending time with my family.

My happy place is:

Being on my bike in the woods.

As a kid I dreamt I would grow up to be:

An Olympic athlete. I really wanted to go for softball, and still think it would have been so bada$$!

You might not know this about me:

As much as I hate running, I’ve run 3 half marathons…for some reason! 🙄😂

Team I’m always rooting for:

Boston Red Sox

Guilty pleasure:

Dark beer!

I’m proud…

Of my parents for over 41 years of marriage, and (I think) 46 years of being together. They are my heroes!

My trademark dance move:

Staying seated at the table! HA!

My favorite holiday and why:

Is it bad to say my birthday? Who doesn’t like celebrating another trip around the sun, and my 4️⃣0️⃣ th is coming up at the end of this month! 🎉

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?
