Mary's fitness journey began playing sports and showing horses in high school and college. When school ended she started running…a lot. She loved the fresh air, that she could run anytime, anyplace, and that runner’s high. It’s a real thing. She kept it up after having kids and even ran a few 50k races. Eventually, the desire to run waned and weightlifting re-entered her life.

Mary had grown up watching her dad lift and enjoys lifting with him still, and having him coach her. She is a creature of habit when it comes to warming up – the Farmgirls all know the “Mary Special,” usually done while she tells a funny story (or at least, she thinks they’re funny). Mary loves to lift! She holds a USAW Level 2, and can get pretty excited coaching weightlifting days! One of her favorite aspects of coaching at Farmgirlfit is the relationships built with the members.

At the lake with my family, lifting in my garage gym, or riding up the mountains on my horses.

THE EXERCISE THAT TOOK ME LONGEST TO LEARN

I am still always learning and making adjustments to my own training and lifts. I strive to continue learning more about lifting and coaching, and love learning from my fellow coaches.
