Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I joined FGF after my friend Amanda Smith told me about it. I hadn’t done any weight lifting since high school but was immediately addicted to it. Farmgirlfit has made me healthier, happier, stronger and more confident. It is the best gym I’ve ever been a part of.

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

I am proud of how quickly I have bounced back to fitness after pregnancy. I am 9 months post-partum and have already surpassed most of my PRs from before pregnancy.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

I would like to work on my pull-ups, and hopefully do a strict pull-up at some point. More broadly, I would like to participate in the CDA duathlon again.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

I sleep better, have more energy and feel better about myself. It makes the rest of my life much nicer, plus, it’s fun!

Favorite exercise at FGF is? Least favorite?

I love wall balls, slam balls and most kinds of squats. TGUs and burpees are definitely towards the bottom of my list.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. This is also my favorite mantra for cycling up large hills.

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The camaraderie. I’ve never been part of a group, of any kind, that is so supportive of each other.

How how has the rest of your life been impacted by Farmgirlfit?

As a primary care provider, I have integrated a lot of what I’ve learned at FGF about fitness into my lifestyle coaching. The structure of Farmgirlfit workouts demonstrates that people at any level of fitness can integrate both resistance training, and cardio exercise into their life.

Do you have a funny Farmgirlfit story, or favorite memory?

That time I tried to show off to my husband and box jump onto our butcher block. I dented the butcher block with my shin.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Besides working as a PA four days per week, I am a mother to a wonderful 9-month-old son, Wesley. I’ve been married 4 years to my husband, Jeff. We have been working on remodeling our house for the last 3 years and are looking forward to finishing up with that and getting back to more recreational activities. We have a large garden, love to hike and road cycle. We also love board games and play in the local co-ed soccer league.

My happy place is:

Reading on the back porch on a cool morning with a cup of coffee.

As a kid I dreamt I would grow up to be:

A fashion designer, which is funny because fashion has never been a strong suit of mine.

You might not know this about me:

I was born in Connecticut, group up in New Hampshire and have lived in Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington.

Team I’m always rooting for:

Michigan Wolverines, GO BLUE!

Guilty pleasure:

Chocolate chip cookie dough

My healthy indulgence:

Fresh berries from the garden…mmmm.
