Name and age: Liv Grout, 23

Member at: Farmgirlfit Spokane

Occupation: I currently work for Dutch Brothers, Marmot LLC and Mt. Bachelor

Tell us about how you came to Farmgirlfit: I graduated from Gonzaga last May and no longer had a dance team or ski club to stay fit with. I raft guided this summer and traveled a bit, so I had little time to join a gym or take time to myself. No one seems to tell you this, but the year after graduation is a roller coaster of emotions. I talked with my mom and she asked what I needed to do to make myself completely happy … I told her that I missed having a team to practice with or a group of girls to share a hard workout with. We found FGF and I signed up the next week! I finally feel like myself again!

What inspires you to be fit? I am really into rock climbing and skiing and have recently shifted most of my time and attention to backcountry skiing. I grew up ski racing, but backcountry skiing allows me to bring some of my favorite hobbies together … adventuring, hiking, skiing and sharing the outdoors with my friends! The boys who I backcountry ski with, including my boyfriend, inspire me to be fit because of their constant desire to be out on the hill — and I love it!

My happy place is: the mountains

You might not know this about me: I was on the Bomb Squad Dance team at Gonzaga for four years and coached the team last year!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far? Just the other day I squatted 155lbs … and I've never tried squatting with weight before, so that was awesome!

What are your next health and fitness goals? My goals include eating healthy, having fun in the gym and maintaining a healthy build.

Favorite exercise at FGF is: I love single-arm snatches…with a kettlebell, dumbbell, you name it. They don't necessarily hurt in the moment, but the next day I am always extremely sore!

Least favorite exercise at FGF is: Running … haha

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is: I love how stoked everyone is for each other! The other day I was trying my first handstand push up and it was crazy how many people were cheering me on and encouraging me.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like? My life is a little all over the place right now … but I most often work at Dutch Brothers, in the stand and training employees. Twice a month I fly back to Bend, Oregon to work in the marketing department at Mt. Bachelor. This is my second year with them and I am finishing out the year so that I can fulfill the two-year minimum of experience that my dream job requires! I also work with Yukon Trading Company, a rep agency out of Seattle. My friend and I work under Marmot doing special events throughout the year for employees from the accounts we have (REI, Mountains Gear, etc). When I'm not working, I'm out in the mountains exploring and skiing my face off!

What advice do you have for new members? Don't be afraid to try new things or ask questions! Farmgirlfit is all about you and your fitness needs, so don't hesitate to ask for guidance!
