I love that I am able to show her that strong is beautiful and fit looks different on everyone. Her new favorite thing to do is flex and say she's "strong like mama!"

Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I grew up playing sports, primarily soccer, but after high school I was was burnt out and took a break. I still tried to stay active with hiking and biking but didn't really get into a routine until after I had my daughter. I joined a gym and set a goal to run a 5k. Once I accomplished that (twice!!) my next goal was to find the courage to try CrossFit. My best friend had been doing CrossFit for a few years (she’s a Farmgirl now!!) and she was always begging me to go with her, but I just couldn't get myself to do it. I was so intimidated by the heavy weights and the all the abbreviations and the dudes. But then I remembered hearing about Farmgirlfit. I saw that there was going to be a special on Black {Purple} Friday so I went down, signed up, and prepaid for 4 months without even trying a single Grind. All or nothing, right??!

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

Honestly, when I joined FGF in December I was in one of the darkest places I had ever been. 5 months before joining my brother unexpectedly passed away and I was desperately searching to find some sort of community to lean on and build myself back up. This place has done that and so much more. It doesn't matter if I'm PR'ing a lift or coming in last after running, I know that every single one of these ladies are on my team and supporting me. Farmgirlfit has changed my life.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

My kiddo. I am her role model and she's watching my every move. It's my job to show her that living an active lifestyle is important and that fitness can (should?) be fun.

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

Walking through the door. Hahaha!! But seriously, I'm actually really proud of my new Strict Press PR! I got 107# and I couldn't wait to come home and tell my husband!!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

I'm doing the Dirty Dash in July. It's no Spartan, but maybe next year. 😉 I also wanna improve on my Snatch form and OHS stability. And I wanna work on my endurance. There is nothing worse than being toasted after round 4 of a Tabata…it’s fine, only 4 more rounds to go! 🙄

Favorite exercise at FGF is? Least favorite?

Favorite: ALL THE SQUATS (except OHS), strict press, push press, bench press, cleans, thrusters, rowing.

Least: running, burpees, plate pushes, planks, wall balls.

Favorite workout song?

Anything that drowns out my excessive panting and groaning. 😂 But really, if it's loud and has a good beat, I'm happy.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

This sucks. I pay money to do this? Omg I'm only half way done. I'm literally dying. Don't lose count. Crap. I lost count. I'm almost done. Only 2 more rounds. DONE! I'm still alive. That wasn't so bad. See ya tomorrow!!! 👋

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

I love how it has a team feel. Throughout the Grind, the coaches are encouraging you to push harder and other members are telling you good job. I never realized how much I missed being part of a team until I came here. I've even referred to making a workout as "going to practice."

I am also beyond thankful that I am able to bring my daughter to such an empowering environment. I think it's really important to surround our children with people who inspire us, and I love that I am able to show her that strong is beautiful and fit looks different on everyone. Her new favorite thing to do is flex and say she's "strong like mama!"

How has the rest of your life been influenced/impacted by Farmgirlfit?

Well, first off, I'm always sore. Haha. But besides that, I have a lot more confidence and I'm proud of my gains and less concerned with what the scale says. I've also realized that I'm a hell of a lot stronger both mentally and physically than I ever thought I was.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Hectic. I have a very busy and bossy little girl who keeps me on my toes during the day. My husband plays in a few local bands, so when he has a show, I try and support him. We do a lot of camping and adventuring as a family, and we love to get out of town as often as possible. I do like to escape for a ladies night from time to time. A little dancing is always good for the soul!

My happy place is:

On a road trip, to a body of water, with my kid and husband. Seriously, it's my favorite.

You might not know this about me:

I went to Germany to play in a soccer tournament when I was 13. We came in 2nd and lost to England.

Words that inspire me?

"You can do anything for 30 minutes!"

Guilty pleasure:

Pizza. Without a doubt.

My hero is:

My mama. She is the toughest woman I know.

My trademark dance move:

I'm not proud to admit this, but I kinda raise the roof a lot. 🤦🏼‍♀️

My favorite holiday and why:

Thanksgiving! The food, the drinks, the family, the thankfulness. What's not to love? Plus my birthday sometimes falls on the same day, so I get presents.

My favorite post workout meal:

Either a homemade acai bowl or eggs. I usually workout at 7:30 or 8:30 in the morning so I need something fast when I come home starving.

My healthy indulgence:

It's not that healthy, but the yam chips from the Manito Tap House. Yummmmmmm!!! Totally my favorite. Or the dragon fruit smoothie from the Wellness Tree.

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

Just come. You'll love it, I promise. If I can step out of my comfort zone and push through a Grind, you can too!
