For the first 2 weeks after joining, I tried to talk myself out of continuing! I thought I was going to die! It was so HARD, and really unlike anything I have ever done before. I’ve always thought of myself as more of a spa girl!

How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I was inspired by a lady I saw playing golf one day this summer, who was at least 10 years older than me: she had a super toned back and arms, and I thought, “Wow, I want to look like that.” I realized that my current fitness routine was no longer keeping up with my lifestyle or with the way I wanted to feel about myself. I decided I needed to make a change, and felt it was important to add weight training. I am NOT super self-motivated to lift weights on my own (or with my husband’s urging), so I walked into Farmgirlfit one day and joined…which is totally out of character for me.

And, I almost immediately regretted it! For the first 2 weeks after joining, I tried to talk myself out of continuing! I thought I was going to die! It was so hard, and really unlike anything I have ever done before. I’ve always thought of myself as more of a spa girl! :) In fact, when I joined, my youngest son said, “Mom, you know you’re gonna have to run!” The coaches and other members kept me coming back, and now I can’t wait to get to the workouts. Everyone is so supportive, and they bring great energy…makes it fun!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

I would have to say my strength has improved greatly! Also, I love the fact that I can do handstands (on the wall)…something I haven’t done since I was a kid.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

To continue to build my upper body strength and work on my nutrition (still love my wine!) and continue trying those things that are totally out of my comfort zone, like climbing the ropes and handstand push-ups. I’d also really like to do a back squat without feeling like I’m going to tip over backwards.

Favorite exercise at FGF is:

I am starting to not hate Wall Balls sooo much, and truly love the variety of everything we do!

Least favorite exercise at FGF is:

Oh my gosh, I HATE burpees!

Favorite workout song?

“Low” by Flo Rida

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

Lamaze comes in handy!

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The coaches and the members, everyone is so supportive and inspiring!

How how has the rest of your life been influenced/impacted by Farmgirlfit?

I feel so much stronger and not so reliant on my husband or sons to lift or move things for me. It is important to me to be independent, healthy, and strong, especially as I age.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

I stay super busy with my job, which I love! My husband and I spend (and have spent) a ton of time watching our sons play baseball. I currently have one still playing college baseball (at Gonzaga), and one who just got married to a beautiful lady, and following her footsteps, will be joining the Air Force. We also love to golf, hike, and travel to warm locations.

My happy place is:

Somewhere in the Caribbean under the palm trees.

As a kid I dreamt I would grow up to be:

An archaeologist…how did I find accounting???

I’m proud…

Of what I’ve accomplished so far in my fitness goals, and can’t wait to see where this takes me!

Team I’m always rooting for:

Gonzaga Baseball…Go Zags!

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

Just keep showing up! The first two weeks are really hard, but the payoff is SO worth it! Even if your muscles are so sore you can hardly turn over in bed, JUST KEEP GOING!
