Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I grew up playing volleyball and basketball but never had much of an affinity for working out. I didn’t truly develop a love for fitness until my early twenties when I began working out with my sisters. My older sister Lindsay has always been a proponent of health/fitness and she inspires and motivates me to push myself every single day in the gym. She also happens to be insanely strong and absurdly competitive!

Lindsay and I, along with my twin sister Caitlin, all joined Farmgirlfit together (Lindsay and I in Cd’A & Caitlin in Spokane) looking for a new way to challenge ourselves physically and mentally. I was both excited and anxious, knowing it was going to be extremely challenging. On my first day, I became so nervous by the number of girls waiting to begin the next Grind that I turned to Lindsay and said, “Lets bail.” If anyone knows my sister, they know that was NOT an option. Since that first day, my anxiety has been replaced with enthusiasm and determination. FGF has enabled me to replace self-doubt with confidence, and shown me that I am capable of far more than I ever expected. FGF has also provided my sister and me with the perfect arena for some intense sisterly competition!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

I am most proud of the overall strength that I’ve gained since starting at Farmgirlfit. In the past I have had difficulty getting a lot of weight overhead, but my most recent one rep max for Push Press was 115# and that was a really rewarding accomplishment.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

I would like to become proficient at both Double Unders and Kipping Pull-Ups. And also to kick some butt at the Negative Split Competition!

Favorite and least favorite exercises at FGF:

I really enjoy Power Cleans and Push Jerks. Least favorite, THRUSTERS...without question!

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

Just keep moving…you can do anything for (12…9….6) minutes!

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The friendly competition and camaraderie amongst all of my fellow farmgirls. I look forward to The Grind everyday knowing that I will be surrounded by a group of badass women who both challenge and encourage one another.

Do you have a funny Farmgirlfit story?

Two words….buddy carry.

My favorite post workout meal:

Oatmeal with almond butter and blueberries.

How has the rest of your life been influenced by Farmgirlfit?

Farmgirlfit has become a part of my daily routine and pushes me to keep striving to obtain new fitness goals. My sister Lindsay and I just recently decided to compete in the Negative Split Finish Strong Fitness Games, and I can honestly say that is something I would have never considered prior to starting FGF.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

My free time is spent with my family and boyfriend. My happy place is on my parent’s front porch drinking a beer (surprise!) and playing cards with my family. My sisters happen to also be my best friends, so you will usually find us together. We love hiking, bike riding and enjoying the beauty of our hometown!

I’m proud…

That I have made FGF a part of my routine and very rarely miss a day unless I absolutely have to!

My hero is:

My twin sister Caitlin.  She is the most dedicated and driven person I know.  Any goal that Caitlin has set for herself she has accomplished…and then some!

Guilty pleasure:

Is it too obvious to say beer?

My healthy indulgence:

Bomb.com acai bowl from the Wellness Bar

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

It is without doubt that FGF will push you to your limits in more ways than one, but the reward of completing your first workout will far outweigh any sort of self-doubt or anxiety you may feel before getting started.  Also know that at FGF you will never have to do it alone; you will be surrounded by a community of women all striving to better themselves and one another.
