Tell us about your fitness journey, and how you came to Farmgirlfit:

My mother (who lives in Orcas Island WA) saw Farmgirlfit on Facebook and knew it was something I would love. I’ve been competing in 5Ks for years and never been able to get to the next level as a runner and FGF is the answer!

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

I have had a roller coaster ride throughout my FGF life time! I am so happy I joined, the coaches and member are amazing and be supportive during my recovery. Last December I had a very sudden stroke and was out of commission for 4 months but I am back at it and so lucky to be here! I love FGF and my strength and endurance is quickly returning and the coaches have been great during the hardest time of my life.  I am stronger, faster and healthier since joining FGF and I know I will keep improving!!

Who inspires you to be fit?

My cross country kids! I love coaching high school distant running. My girls push me and I push them. They also inspire me to be a healthy athletic role model for young girls!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

To be honest my recovery, all of my strength and endurance was basically wiped out after to my stroke. Five months past my stroke and I am faster and stronger now than before!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

Unassisted pull ups, I want it so bad! Also run a half marathon, I am running the Windermere Half this June (wish me luck!).

Favorite exercise at FGF is:

Running! Every time I see the grind includes running I think, “Yes! I’m going to beat some people today!”

Least favorite exercise at FGF is:

Double-unders, I am so terrible at them and it hurts!

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The coaches! All the coaches remember you and want you to succeed. I was out of commission for several months after my stroke, and half way through my recovery I ran into [Coach] Savhanna downtown. She knew exactly who I was and was extremely concerned about my recovery! They are all AMAZING!

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Well I am extremely busy all the time, there’s not enough time to list all of my activities but here are my favorites! If I am at work, I’m out on Lake Roosevelt driving our electrofishing boat and catching fish (awesome job right!).  During the afternoons I’d be at Reardan High School coaching cross country/track, running with my wonderful girls (they keep me young)! At home I am hanging out with my amazing boyfriend, his adorable 3 year old and our 2 dogs. We love fishing, hunting and backpacking! Like I said, I’m a busy girl!

My happy place is:

Swan Lake, by Republic WA. I have been camping and hunting there my entire life, it’s beautiful and amazing!

You might not know this about me:

I’ve been competing in karate tournaments since the age of 11, so watch out ;)

What advice do you have for new members?

First of all get your tushy in to FGF and join! Secondly keep going, I know you are so sore you can’t walk properly but it will pass!
