Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I honestly don't recall how I heard of FGF but to make a long story short I was at a point in my life that there was no other choice but to start learning to love myself and all that I had to offer. The birth of my second daughter was such a traumatic experience for our family due to her early arrival at 28 weeks, weighing 1lb 13oz with a host of medical issues. She spent over 4 months in the NICU fighting for her life. By the end of our stay we knew that she wouldn't be like her peers and that she would always have special needs. It was such an emotional blow as a mother. This sounds horribly selfish but how was I going to balance life with a special needs little one? Could I be everything she needed me to be? I told myself I was picked for a reason and I was going to do everything I could to make life as amazing for her and my oldest daughter as I possible could. After a few years of life with massive medical appointments, surgeries, curveballs and just being a mom & wife I found that I had let myself slide emotionally & physically. It was time to take some time for ME. I needed something, an escape, a stress reliever, something that made me feel like my old self again...Enter Farmgirlfit!!!!

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

Suckered a friend, the beautiful Jennifer Offereins, to join me because I was scared out of my mind. Made sure to wear a heart rate monitor to check if I was still alive throughout The Grind, completed the first Grind...STILL ALIVE, in the unsafe red zone on the monitor, but ALIVE and I loved every minute of it! Where are the papers, sign me up!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

There are so many but I take pride in my 7:31 minute mile – This girl is not built for running!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

Completing a Spartan Race – Wait I'm doing that TOMORROW – WHAT WHAT!!! Go team I AM Farmgirlfit!!! I'd like to continue on with all three legs of the Spartan Race series. The Sprint this weekend and then follow up with a Super and a Beast.

Words that inspire me?

This may seem odd, there's no exact quote or phrase...I just love listening to my friends’ advice, and the support they provide, it's always inspiring and I know it's straight from the heart. I have some of the best besties in the whole world.

Favorite exercise at FGF is? Least favorite?

Favorite would have to be Front Squats & Box Jumps | Least Favorite – OHS!!! I feel like my body just doesn't bend correctly for this lift!

Favorite workout song?

I have a slight obsession with Tween Pop music... so anything I can belt out or shake it to works well.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

Just think of how amazing you'll feel when you're done!

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

Hands down the friendships I've formed with some of the most amazing women and coaches. Farmgirlfit pulled me out of my funk. The laughter, the encouragement, fighting through the tough physical moments, and accomplishing things never dreamt of, all with the help of my FGF family is seriously such an awesome feeling!

How has the rest of your life been influenced by Farmgirlfit?

I'm more active for sure outside of the gym, hiking, walks with the family, the occasional run and we even bought a rower!!! I'm also more thoughtful of what I put into my body and how I prepare food for my family.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Well I hate to say it, but I'm a workaholic but I ALWAYS have something fun brewing on the back burner, themed get-togethers are my jam!!! I soak up the time with my husband and kids as much as possible. My happy place is on the water, or outdoors with them!

My hero(es) are:

My daughters. My oldest for adapting to having a special needs sister and loving her so fiercely, and of course my littlest for continuing to fight to improve herself and the things she's capable of. She's taught me so much already!

Guilty pleasure:

Sour Patch Kids

My healthy indulgence:

I love YAMS!!!

Team I’m always rooting for:

Sports fanatic here! Don't really root for one team, but I love sitting down to watch a good football or hockey game.

My trademark dance move:

I've got dance moves for days! Give me a beat!!!

My favorite Pokemon:

This is SOOO embarrassing...the Ponyta – I don't play, my husband does, I swear!!!

My favorite post workout meal:

I wouldn't call it a meal, but the Legit smoothie at Method Juice Cafe is well…pretty Legit!!! #badpun #sorrynotsorry

My spirit animal:

LOL! According to a test recently taken, any herd/pack animals. Foxes, Wolves, Wild Dogs – We like to stick together. I'd like to say I'm Foxy!

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

Don't look back. Once you've walked in those doors your life can only change for the better. It's amazing to learn what you're capable of. You'll never find a more supportive, fun and loving group to become a part of.
