Tell us about your fitness journey, and how it lead to FGF@Home.

I was never the super athletic type and never overweight, so I worked out minimally in high school and college. Once in PT school I needed a stress outlet, and my bestie and I came up with a routine of going to the gym before 8am class every day. Saturdays we would do classes…that is where I realized I LOVED having someone else program my workouts! J I moved here from TX in 2011 and joined a CrossFit gym with my husband. We LOVED the CrossFit community and were members until our gym closed (5 years). I had my little boy May 2016 and needed something that fit into our new life better and working out at home does. FGF@Home came right in time with the 1st session starting September 2016 right when I returned to work full-time! I have been the most consistent I have ever been in the last year, and still LOVE everything about this program…even the running! 😉

Please share your Farmgirlfit experience once starting FGF@Home.

Being active in our CrossFit gym for 5 years, I came to crave a hard but fun, challenging but achievable, fast but super effective workout style. Farmgirlfit offers this at their physical locations, so I was super hopeful the FGF@Home program would offer something similar…and boy was I right!

  • I love how I can go into my garage gym after my son goes to bed and get a sweat-session in within an hour, start to finish.
  • I LOVE how my post-baby body responds to this programming, and how I can stay active with my VERY active family because of the work I put into the Grinds each day.
  • I LOVE how FGF@Home has pushed me (running…oh how I don’t enjoy it but have grown to embrace it) and got me into a routine of weekly yoga.
  • I LOVE the varied pace and how I can switch around the days based on what my week is like.

When I started FGF@Home I was 13 weeks post Cesarean Section with a weak core and pelvic floor, but with a mindset that I could still perform at my previous CrossFit level self. Heck, I worked out up until 39 weeks pregnant including performing Double Unders…so why couldn’t I just pick up where I left off?!? 😂😂😂 My body said NO so many times, and it was really humbling during that 1st FGF@Home session. Over the past 3, now on the 4th session, this program has made me slow down, listen to my body, and appreciate it for what it is now (not what it USED to be) and how it is developing. I have appreciated the social media support, and the girl/body positive message behind everything FGF does. So empowering to love ourselves in all stages of life!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment?

Running multiple 5k’s…I may have ran 3-4 5k’s in my ENTIRE life and now I try to fit one in once a month. I’m still working on that dang 10k…maybe a #FGFParticipate challenge will push me there. 😏 😉

What are your next health and fitness goals?

That dang 10k!

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

My family. Two main ones:

  1. My mom has MS and struggles everyday with some of the things we take for granted…like getting out of bed and walking without having to make sure your legs are ‘OK’ to stand and walk on or feeling rested when we wake up in the morning or even just being able to hang out outside without worrying about getting too hot. I want to stay strong for her because she can’t do so much, yet she can do more and is stronger than I ever will be.
  2. My son…I want to be the mom who can keep up with him, that runs with him and plays with him versus the mom that sits on the sidelines and watches because they are too tired to get up and BE ACTIVE! I want to be a role model for him and for what he may look for in a wife one day. 😊

Do you have a favorite and/or least favorite exercise from the @Home program?

I really enjoy all the outside the box stuff…card or dice Grinds, as well as the really SWEATY ones, when you know that when you’re done you’ll feel so accomplished…they are very cathartic! Least favorite would be running, but I know I NEED it.

What has been your favorite aspect of the @Home program?

The flexibility of shuffling things around, being able to be home since I have to workout after 8pm each night, and the girl/body positive outlook…oh and the pushing to participate more and do MORE outside stuff in the beautiful part of the country we live in!

What are you most looking forward to with Summer Session?

Working harder on the nutrition aspect…more veggies and less dessert!

How has the rest of your life been influenced by Farmgirlfit, if at all?

I have definitely become more ACTIVE and WANTING to get out there and DO MORE: MORE hikes, MORE experiences, MORE living in the moment!

Besides the FGF@Home Program, what does the rest of your life look like?

My husband (Trey) and I have been married for 10 years, we have a Siberian Husky named Eros and a 13 month old little boy named Greyson. My husband and I met in college in TX and moved to Spokane after I graduated from PT school. I work hard, and LOVE my job as a PT and clinic manager at Apex Physical Therapy in Spokane. This year I have been learning how to manage all hats I wear: wife, momma, and a PT, as well as to stay active and healthy. Some days I fail and other days I thrive but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My happy place is:

Anywhere with my family!

Guilty pleasure:

Coffee, and any kind of homemade dessert.

Team I’m always rooting for:

Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos…we are a BIG football-watching family! 🤠🏈🐴

Any advice for potential members or fellow farmgirls?

As Nike would say "Just Do It"…you will thank yourself later!
