Occupation:

Mom, wife, and physical therapist.

Tell us about how you came to Farmgirlfit:

Several of my girlfriends at book club were talking about Farmgirlfit, and thought I would really like it. After hearing more, I agreed, and once my job area changed to covering the downtown zip codes, I went to check it out. I attended a Noon class, Liz was coaching, The Grind included overhead squats, and I joined up that day...2.5 years ago!

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

Working in the health care field, I see such a difference in the people that have made healthy life choices and put in the effort to take care of their body, mind, and soul. I want to be the 93-year-old that can get down on the floor and demonstrate a textbook floor recovery!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

Childbirth x2! But I'll also go with completing my first full marathon. I did the Portland Marathon... slowly, but I did it! 26.2 miles is a long way to run, especially for someone who used to be a sprinter way back in the day. I enjoyed the training process, and I guarantee that Farmgirlfit helped me stay healthy, strong and mobile, so I could complete my training and the race itself without injury. I am always amazed at the human body and what it can accomplish; it really is a beautiful and amazing machine.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

Primarily to stay healthy, strong and feel good. Short term, I'd like to get close to my PR at the Wandermere Half this June. Intermediately, I participated in the Negative Split fitness competition, and I could see doing another one of those at some point. Long term, I plan to do a second marathon at age 40. I'm on the 5 year plan for marathons! ;)

Favorite exercise at FGF is:

It's hard to pick just one, because one of my favorite things about FGF is the variety of the exercises, lifts, and combinations. The workouts are different every day. It's what keeps it so fresh and challenging! My top picks are pull ups- because I think they look bad ass; power cleans, squat cleans and overhead squats- because they require technique; and slam balls- because it's somehow very satisfying to throw something down hard on the ground... over and over again.

Least favorite?

Front squats. I find it very challenging to keep good form when loaded heavy in front.

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

The total package. The workout itself, the coaches, my fellow farmgirls, and the extras like the No Sugar Challenge and Ready to Run seminars. The owners, coaches and members foster an environment that is supportive and encouraging, yet also fuels my competitive desire to lift heavier, jump higher, run faster!

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

I am mom to 2 amazing humans, Sami (age 9) and Adler (age 4), and support them in their soccer, school plays, and neighborhood adventures... I am not quite as supportive of their laundry creation ability. My LOML, Matty, and I celebrated our 13th year of marriage last year, and celebrated by completing 13 runs, #luckynumber13. I also am a home health physical therapist, and get to work with an amazing team of caring people who work hard to improve the lives of the homebound elderly in our community.

You might not know this about me:

I used to win walking handstand contests at gymnastic meets...and I could still put up a good challenge! ;)

Guilty pleasure:

Beer. Yep, I enjoy fermented hops.

I’m proud…

Last year I was inducted into the Hall of Honors at Eastern New Mexico University where I played volleyball for the Zias!

What advice do you have for new members?

You can do it! The beauty of Farmgirlfit is The Grind is tailored to all levels. Your muscles will be sore, you will sweat buckets, but your butt will look awesome!
