Tell us about your fitness journey. How did you come to Farmgirlfit?

I’ve always been pretty active. I’ve played volleyball throughout the years and have always had a love for the game. I have been a member at multiple gyms, going in and putting in my time. I hit rock bottom in my fitness when my husband and I lived in North Dakota. Up until the last six months of us being there I had been super active. I worked in the local community center and played in several the volleyball leagues. Then I took a job for an oil field company, and if anyone knows anything about how those companies work, it is slooooow. I had a desk job where I sat all day, and the guys I worked with were always bringing in food.

When we left ND to move back here, I was the heaviest I’d ever weighed, and was really down on myself. I saw the FGF sign one day when my husband was getting a haircut, so while he was doing that I wandered over to see what it was all about. I was able to catch the end of a class and I was hooked. I knew I wanted to belong to this community, I couldn’t wait to get my health and fitness back on track!

If you could tell your Farmgirlfit story in 100 words or fewer, how would it read?

I have been at FGF for just over a year now, and have noticed a huge difference in my confidence. Not only physically but also mentally. I have come a long way since last year. I still have a lot of hard work ahead, but I am looking forward to seeing the changes.

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment so far?

I competed in the Negative Split fitness games back in March with my awesome partner Tori. That was huge for me, I was so nervous and it definitely made me step out of my comfort zone. I had a great time and it taught me so much.

What are your next health and fitness goals?

For right now I’d like to get my back squat into the 200’s and climb the rope all the way to the top. Long term, I might do a competition again, but I get nervous just thinking about that…ahhhh.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

I have been in the health industry for a while now and I have seen what not taking care of yourself looks like and it’s not good, so that inspires me. I want to be healthy, active and fit my whole life, not just while I’m young.

Favorite exercise at FGF is? Least favorite?

I actually like the majority of the exercises that we do. I love to lift heavy. I love to see what my body is capable of and surprising myself. As far as least favorite, it would be anything with running.

When the Grind is kicking my butt, I’m thinking…

Usually my mind is all over the place. I’m thinking about what number I’m on (if I can keep that straight in my head), how much further I have to go, but after a while I try to focus on where I’m at and not the destination, it definitely helps. Oh, there may be a few cuss words floating around up there as well.

My favorite thing about Farmgirlfit is:

I know it has been said before, but it’s the community, the ladies, the spirit of FGF. There are days when I finish close to first on a workout and days where I’m finishing last, but what is amazing is it doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you do your best. Your fellow farmgirls (members and coaches) are always, always going to be your best cheerleaders.

Do you have a funny Farmgirlfit story?

I didn’t realize you could get a rope burn and bruising between your thighs, yep just discovered that one.

When you're not pumping iron at FGF, what does the rest of your life look like?

Well, I recently opened my own business called Active Recovery Massage, which has kept me quite busy as of late. I have been a massage therapist for about 8 years, and am so excited to now have my own business providing that service.

Guilty pleasure:

Wine, Mexican food and margaritas

Team I’m always rooting for:

Seahawks

Any advice for new members or your fellow farmgirls?

Just do it! Be like Nike. Life is too short to have regrets, and not joining FGF would certainly have been one of mine.
